A Review of The Hunger Games

No fan-squeeing allowed, I swear.

Excellent book, gripping, engaging, a solid five stars.

A few mention-worthy selections:

A love triangle that is NOT the main driving force of the plot.

Mushy-gushy mixed with action in a near perfect balance.

A strong female character quite capable of taking care of herself who is NOT catering to a group of salivating fanboys. (Quite a rare combo these days)

Action.

Explosions.

The underlying social commentary that, if you care enough to ponder it, sucker-punches you in the gut when you realize it.

A painted dystopian future described just enough to pull you in, but not so much as to drown you in purple prose.

A second book continuing the series.

Please ignore the following announcement:

SQUEE! They’re making a movie!

Sorry about that.

Anyway, expect the movie review next.

please don’t ruin it please don’t ruin it please don’t ruin it

*ahem*

A great read for teens and adults alike.

My highest recommendations. If you haven’t read it yet, I suggest you get a copy  and do so as soon as possible.

  1. Thanks for your review. I actually bought the book for kindle a few weeks ago and started reading it – mainly after watching the movie trailer.
